An Overview on Compression Garments
Many healthy people can benefit from compression stockings such as pregnant women, long-distance air travellers, or those having professions such as cashiers, tellers or nurses that require them to stand for prolonged periods of time. Compression socks and stockings can provide great relief and can also help prevent very serious issues such as blood clotting when air travellers sit immobile for many hours.
Patients with more serious medical conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, severe varicose veins, and leg ulcers require compression stockings.

Custom Compression Garments
Compression garments have come a long way over the last 20 years. Long gone are the heavy, rubbery latex stockings. The current compression garments use the latest comfortable materials that mimic regular socks and pantyhose. They come in various colours and fabrics. Certain garments even have silver particles woven into the fabric that inhibits bacterial growth greatly reducing foot odour.
Compression garments come in a variety of compressions starting at 15mmHg all the way up to 60mmHg. We can help you decide what is right for you depending on your medical needs. Your physician may also write a prescription detailing the exact type of garment and the necessary compression. Many private health care plans will reimburse for compression garments. We will provide all necessary receipts required for the insurance submission.
